Oxbow would like to extend an invitation to the community to join us for 2015’s Big Oxbow Glean, an annual falltime event bringing families and community members together for a feel-good harvest in our fields.

Time: 10:00 — 2:00

Who: Individuals and families are invited to join Oxbow, Hopelink Harvest, and members of our partnering Jewish organizations

Where: Oxbow Farm in Carnation (please use our West Entrance to the pumpkin patch)

The Big Oxbow Glean began several years ago as a collaboration between Oxbow and our partnering Jewish organizations as a celebration of the Sukkot harvest festival in Jewish culture. Although it has grown, in the years since, to include others, the glean still remains true to its roots in Sukkot. Rabbi Rachel Nussbaum will be on site and generally speaks to some of the history and modern day traditions of the festival.

This year, we will also be working with Lindsey Robinson, Hopelink’s Harvest Coordinator who has been leading weekly gleans at Oxbow this growing season.

Our pumpkin patch and all of its components (the farm stand, House of Hay, and Living Playground) will be open during this event and several of our farmers will be on site. This is a great opportunity to get outside, lend a hand in an effort to feed those in need, and meet and work alongside other members of our extended community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We will share in an informal lunch after the glean, so you are invited to bring a picnic with you.

Please dress prepared for the weather. You will want to be warm and dry, so please dress accordingly depending on the day’s forecast. Regardless of weather, you will want to wear boots.
