What We Do

Building a healthier planet takes a team.

Oxbow’s four core program areas are integral to our overall work and mission as a climate resilience organization. Amplified by strong partnerships and opportunities for the public to engage and explore all that we do, Oxbow aims to reach an audience far beyond its borders.

Learn about our program areas below:

Agriculture

Oxbow uses agro-ecological principles to cultivate 12 acres of certified organic mixed vegetables, herbs, and flowers, while also engaging in research to inform conservation agriculture practices. We grow food for grocery stores, restaurants, hunger relief, Farm Share program, and on-site Farm Stand.

Agriculture

Conservation

Oxbow carries out ecological restoration projects on-site and in surrounding communities. Additionally, we partner with scientists, regional planners, and other environmental organizations to explore ways in which humans can benefit from the land while preserving biodiversity.

Conservation

Education

Oxbow offers education programs for children pre-K through high school to build environmental literacy and provide students with opportunities to learn about the links between agriculture, conservation, and the environment. Over 8,000 children visit Oxbow each year.

Education

Native Plants

Oxbow’s Native Plant Nursery uses sustainable growing methods to produce plants for habitat restoration projects and urban landscapes. We share our knowledge to encourage increased production and use of natives in the Pacific Northwest, and beyond.
