Let there be water

We have made a big step this season investing in an automated irrigation system for our propagation house. This resource has been on our wish list for a very long time. We were able to take the step this season to make it happen thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of our year-round field crew (another recent investment).

Managing the propagation house efficiently is critically important to the success of our season. This place is where 80-90% of our plants begin their lives. Keeping thousands of plants hydrated according to their unique needs is no small task, so this automated system (after some more learning and experimentation) will free up lots of our farmers’ time for other important spring needs.

Now that the new system is functional, we will try to dial in our strategies for making the most of it. There’s lots more to come in the prop house this season, so you’ll probably hear about it again.
